Large Group (May 29th, 2008) - James Choung

Discussions over gender roles in the Church are often, at best, confusing, and at their worst, downright oppressive. James Choung (D. Min., Fuller Theological Seminary; and author of True Story: A Christianity Worth Believing In) will unpack two passages in Scripture -- 1 Timothy 2 and 1 Corinthians 14 -- about the role of women in the Church. He'll walk through his study of these passages in their original language, and how his conclusions changed his mind from a complementarian position to an egalitarian one in the context of the Church.

Large Group (June 12, 2008)

Jamie Wilson will be speaking on a subject TBA.

Spring Picnic (June 14, 2008)

We are planning on having GCF's spring beach picnic on June 14th. More details, like time and place, are coming soonish.

Service Opportunity: English Tutoring

Saturdays, 1-3pm A local Christian social services organization runs a tutoring service for many of the Burmese refugees who have been displaced by the recent political upheaval in their native land. Many of the refugees speak little to no English at all. As you can imagine what a huge problem that is for these people as they are trying to adapt to this new country. The aim of this organization is to provide these people with the basic language ability they need to get their life started here. They offer a tutoring service for kids as well as for adults every Saturday from 1-3pm. A Vietnamese church in University Heights has graciously offered their facility for this use. However, they are always in need of some qualified tutors. If you're interested, contact Norm ().

meeting information

On a weekly basis, we usually meet either for small groups or large group.

Large Group - Large group usually occurs every other Thursday at 7:30pm. Coming to our large group is a great way to meet with many people in the GCF community, from all different backgrounds and disciplines. To find out more about large group and directions look at the large group information page.

Small Groups - Small groups usually meet on the weeks that large group doesn't. They allow us as a community to dig deeper into Bible and to study what it says for our lives. To find out more about our small groups, meeting locations, and study topics look at the small group information page.

If you have any questions about either of these groups, please email us at email.

Prayer Groups - Prayer groups happen on campus throughout the week. These groups are a great way to get connected with other people within your discipline. Prayer includes everything from your department and the people in it, for the campus, personal requests, and anything else. If you would like to join a prayer group, look at the prayer ministry page for contact people.

Men's and Women's Groups - Our Men's and Women's groups generally have activities once or twice a month. Food is often involved. But so are prayer, discussion, fellowship!

For more information on the Men's Group, e-mail Andre (email) or Chad (email).

For more information on the Women's Group, e-mail Karen (email).
