First Summer Meeting
Thursday 7/2, 7:30 One Miramar community room
We'll come together as "one big small-group" to study, pray, and
fellowship together in a format that accommodates our summer comings and
goings. This is a great time to get to know people from other small
groups and to welcome new students as they begin to arrive through the
summer.
We will be meeting at One Miramar Community room two and will be studying
The Beatitudes: Developing Spiritual Character by John Stott. Each week we will study one of the Beatitudes which over the course of the summer will reveal to us eight qualities (meekness and mercy, poorness in spirit and purity of heart, mourning and hunger, peacemaking and persecution) which will offer us encouragement and instruction on living as followers of Christ.
Matt Sings Handel
Saturday, 6/27, Balboa Theater
Matt will be singing Handel's *Theodora* with the Bach
Collegium of San Diego at 7pm in the Balboa Theater (Gaslamp)!
Set in ancient Rome during the early days of Christianity, *Theodora* tells the
story (in English!) of a brave & virtuous Christian woman who refuses to
worship the pagan gods. Musically, the movie-length (ok... LotR-length)
oratorio is a masterpiece of baroque composition, featuring a small
orchestra, 5 soloists, and a 24-voice chorus of Christians & Heathens
(including Matt). The ensemble will be guest conducted by Richard Egarr,
the director of London's Academy of Ancient Music, who has been called the
"Leonard Bernstein of early music" by NPR's All Things Considered.

meeting information
Each week we usually have either a large group meeting, or small groups. If you have any questions about either of these groups, please email us at .
Large Group
Large group usually occurs every other Thursday at 7:30pm. Coming to our
large group is a great way to meet with many people in the GCF community,
from all different backgrounds and disciplines. To
find out more about large group and directions look at the
large group information page.
Small Groups
Small groups usually meet on the weeks that large group doesn't.
They allow us as a community to dig deeper into Bible and to study what it says for our lives.
To find out more about our small groups, meeting locations, and study topics look at
the small group information page.
Prayer Groups
Prayer groups happen on campus throughout the week. These
groups are a great way to get connected with other people within your
discipline. Prayer includes everything from your department and the people
in it, for the campus, personal requests, and anything else. If you
would like to join a prayer group, look at the prayer ministry
page for contact people.
Men's and Women's Groups
Our Men's and Women's groups generally have activities once or twice a month. Food is often involved. But so are prayer, discussion, and fellowship!
For more information on the Men's Group, e-mail Andre ( ).
For more information on the Women's Group, e-mail Karen ( ).
