previous happenings - 2003/2002 school year

Ladle Fellowship at First Presbyterian Church -- On May 25th, 2003 we went to First Presbyterian Church to help with the Ladle Fellowship. The Ladle Fellowship helps people who are less fortunate and provides them with what they need to get back on their feet. This was not only a wonderful opportunity to help people out but also helped show how we can use our own blessings to bless others.

Easter potluck -- We had an Easter potluck on Sunday afternoon, April 20, 2003.

San Diego Rescue Mission -- On March 29th, 2003 several gradaute fellowships from other UC campuses (Irvine, LA, and SB) came to San Diego to join us for a service activity at the San Diego Rescue Mission. This was a great way to help out the homeless and also to make friends from other fellowships.

Grad school Q&A night -- On March 7th, 2003 the Graduate Christian Fellowship met with undergraduates from UCSD's InterVarsity Christian Fellowship to discuss the ins and outs of graduate school study and life.

Homeless feeding at First Presbyterian Church -- On Sunday, Feb 16th, 2003 we partnered with ICF-west for a homeless service activity. We worked with the Ladle Fellowship at First Presbyterian Church. There were about 30 of volunteers total and everyone helped out in many different ways (mostly manning different food stations and greeting people). All in all at least 200 people came through the homeless center. It really was an awesome day and a wonderful way to extend God's love to people.

Following Christ conference. Over Christmas break, eight of us from the UCSD graduate Christian fellowship attended the Following Christ conference in Atlanta, Georgia, along with about 900 other attendees. The conference, December 28th 2002 through January 2nd 2003, was about following Jesus in the academic world. It was great. For more information, see the FollowingChrist web site.

Thanksgiving potluck. GCF had a potluck Thanksgiving meal for people staying in San Diego on Wednesday, November 27th, 2002. Thank you to all who came and contributed. It was a great success!

BBQ and get-together! On Saturday, September 28th, 2002, we had a barbecue and get-together. Thanks to everyone that came to make it a very fun event. We had lots of great food options thanks to everyone's participation, and Christian's smoked brisket was awesome. Pictures are here.

Fall retreat at Campus by the Sea. During Fall 2002, we attended a weekend retreat with other students from UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, and UC Santa Barbara at the Campus by the Sea on Catalina Island. The topic of the weekend was the book of James. You can see pictures from the weekend here.
